Payet
Would you, where is your moral compass pointing? Probably wouldn’t have to part with any money as we paid in instalments and Marseille still owe West Ham money after signing him in January 2017.

Would enable us to move Anderson in the centre and Payet on the left, reckon those two would be telepathic.

Now how did that old song go?

Re: Payet
Premusing Marseille probably still owe WHUFC half the fee, and he's now half the player, he can come back on a free?

Get him in on minimum wage: cleaning the bogs. The stroppy twat. If the crappers are clean, he can enjoy a few minutes kicking a ball around. Which he's not bad at, at times.

MODERN FOOTBALL IS RUBBISH!

If we are talking about brilliance and loyalty no one comes close to Sir Trevor

Spot on.

Re: Payet
Payet was arguably the best in the league, and up there with the best in the world that last season at the Boleyn.

Di Canio wasn't in all the time we had him.

Payet was a better player, Di Canio gave the club more joy overall. Not sure there is much more to say on it.

Re: Payet
I'm taking the loyalty thing or the amount of time they were at West Ham completely out of it.

I have never seen anyone perform as consistently brilliant for West Ham in a season as what Payet did. Talent, technical ability, influence on the team, impact on games. He's out on his own.

Re: Payet
Di Canio wasn't fucking loyal!

He waved goodbye to the fans after the Leicester game because he was trying to force through a move to Man Utd. The only reason it didn't go through was because Dwight Yorke's proposed move to Middlesbrough at that time fell through as they wanted Di Canio as his replacement. Di Canio then turned round to claim he turned down Man Utd because of his love for West Ham which was bollocks.

He also threw a pissy fit and was refusing to play before we were due to play Tottenham because the club wouldn't accept an offer and allow him to talk to Gianluca Vialli at Chelsea.

It is indeed a game of opinions, yours is just an incorrect one.

Re: Payet
Football is a game of opinions and in my opinion he was because he had more passion, tenacity, desire & loyalty which led to him staying at the club 4 times longer than Payet and therefore being more effective. Technical ability is comparable though different strengths.

Re: Payet
Di Canio was incredible and one of my all time hero's playing for the club but I have never seen a player so accomplished and able to turn a game on his own as Payet in 40 yrs of supporting the club.

As others have said it was the first time we genuinely had one of the top 5 players in Europe turning out for us on form during that season.

Kaiser

If you want to be pedantic then!

In his first spell at the club TC scored 0.4339622642 goals per game. Second time around it was 0.3432835821 goals per game. Your interpretation of my maths being wrong is only your opinion.

You are correct second time around he was not as productive, however that was not necessarily his fault because he had less talented players around him.

Have we signed him yet? -:)

Re: Payet
There is zero chance of us signing him, and he's past his best anyway.

He was a cunt, but for that one season, he's the best I've seen in the shirt. I'll remember him for that.

Sixteen goals in 68 games in McAvennie's second spell with ud. Much of which was in the second tier, and is boosted by a hat trick in a meaningless final game.

To put it in perspective that's a sub-Carroll strike rate.
